If you’re a large merchant, agentic commerce is no longer a future problem.
Your customers’ AI agents are already showing up on your website.
Over the last six months, we’ve spent a lot of time working with large merchants on what agentic commerce actually looks like in production. Across those conversations, we’re seeing the same pattern.
Consumers are asking AI agents to shop on their behalf. Those agents are trying to access merchant websites, log into customer accounts, use loyalty benefits and complete purchases.
The demand has arrived before most merchants have a way to accept it.
There’s a new conversion funnel
Merchants have spent decades optimizing the path from discovery to checkout.
Agentic commerce introduces another funnel before that one even begins:
CDN → Login/ Loyalty → Fraud → Checkout
Every one of those systems was built, correctly, to be suspicious of automation.
So a legitimate agent acting on behalf of a real customer can be blocked by the CDN before it sees a product. It can trigger account-takeover protections when it tries to log in. It can lose access to the customer’s loyalty relationship. It can get flagged by fraud infrastructure before it ever reaches checkout.
The new question for merchants is becoming:
How many customers’ agents survive your existing infrastructure long enough to actually transact?
Merchants are already seeing this traffic in the gray area between known human users and known malicious bots. For Skyfire’s larger partners, bots now account for more than 80% of total site traffic.
And increasingly, Merchants are asking how to let the good agents through.
Your website still matters
There’s a lot of discussion about building new infrastructure for agentic commerce: MCP, ACP, UCP, agent-specific APIs and entirely new checkout experiences.
Those technologies will all play a role.
But merchants have an immediate problem: agents need to be able to use their existing websites, today.
Most ecom players have spent decades building their existing digital experiences. Their websites connect identity, customer accounts, loyalty, inventory, fraud, payments, fulfillment and years of first-party customer data.
Merchants can’t throw that away and they don’t want an AI platform sitting between them and their customers.
They want to know who is behind the agent. They want the customer to remain their customer. They want their loyalty program, customer account, data and existing commerce experience to continue to matter.
That means the near-term answer to agentic commerce can’t simply be: build a separate experience and wait for agents to use it.
Your existing website needs to work for agents too.
Merchants shouldn’t have to choose the winning protocol
ACP. UCP. MCP. ACK… and more will come.
Meanwhile, merchant engineering roadmaps were planned long before most of these protocols existed. It’s difficult to justify a major engineering project around every emerging standard. particularly while the ecosystem is changing this quickly.
What we hear from merchants is much simpler: Make us agent-ready without requiring a technical lift.
That’s a pretty tall order, but it’s something we’re solving at Skyfire by building a native acceptance network across the existing infra providers most merchants already use.
Make your existing stack agent-ready
Skyfire’s Know Your Agent (KYA) network gives legitimate AI agents a portable, verifiable identity.
But issuing identity is only useful if someone can actually recognize it.
That’s why we’ve focused on building KYA acceptance directly into the infrastructure merchants already use.
Through Skyfire’s infrastructure partners, merchants can identify trusted agents as they arrive, understand who is behind them and determine which agents should be allowed through, without rebuilding their commerce stack or integrating separately with every agent platform.
Instead of replacing the systems merchants have spent decades building (or bypassing with advanced stealth services that will usher in high velocity fraud…), Skyfire works through them.
That means merchants can begin opening their existing digital experiences to trusted agents while continuing to use their existing security, identity, loyalty, fraud and payment infrastructure.
In one of our most recent grocery deployments, we went from conversation to production in under an hour.
This is already working at scale
Skyfire has now powered nearly 2 million agentic transactions with major consumer web properties. Agents are using Skyfire KYA to establish trusted access to existing websites and services across existing security stacks.
Agentic commerce is already arriving through the front door of the existing internet.
Merchants don’t need to wait for a new internet to be built around AI agents. And they shouldn’t need a multi-year roadmap to start serving the customers already sending agents to them. They need a way to recognize legitimate agents, let them through, and maintain control of the customer relationship.
Your customers’ agents are already trying to shop with you… Skyfire can help you delight (not block) them.
